Self Care Series


Yes. This is still Katie Joy. I changed my name because I want you to understand that you are valued and loved. Plain and simple. Mental illness is hard. Self-doubt is hard. Pain is hard. That doesn't mean you aren't seen, heard and loved.
Now. Onto self-care. I'm starting a Self Care Series and I'd love for you to join me! 

Starting August 19th, for 6 weeks, I'll be sharing the pillars of care and examples of how to implement them no matter where you are in life. Let me tell you now, I've lived in my brokenness, shame, and pain and I still battle it. I haven't experienced your pain, though. I don't know where you are; only you do.

Social media is full of before + after posts. I made this series so that we can walk together through the during.
Over the last 4 years, I have overanalyzed + over-thought trying to find a secret solution to a healthy life. At some point it clicked that there is no one secret. It takes self-love, self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-care. I realized if I didn't take the time to change 20+ years of bad habits, I'd just continue to get more emotionally, mentally, & physically sick.
I want you to understand that the "during" is the most important part of your journey. There is a "before", but there is no true "after". Self-care is never finished and it can start no matter where you are in your life.

Self Care isn't all bubble baths and face masks. It can include those things, but there are areas of self care that can be addressed to fully allow yourself the capacity for preventative care. If you're tired, broken, feel like you can't even take a bath, it's ok. We're a community and are here for each other. I want to be a resource and a support system.
